Fort Atkinson continues Zoning Update Process

Residents and city staff began the process of rewriting Fort Atkinson’s zoning ordinance during a kick-off workshop in March, and that process is continuing. The goal is to bring a 50-year old Zoning code up-to-date. The Jefferson Daily Union quoted consultant Ben Rohr of Vandewalle & Associates as saying that the goal is to “…
make development and enforcement more predictable,” and to encourage high-quality development, mixed-use development and redevelopment and a diversity of housing types, as was frequently discussed during the comprehensive plan update process.

The purpose of the zoning ordinance rewrite is to implement the concepts set in the city’s updated comprehensive plan and simplify the development process while also ensuring that property values, unique environmental and cultural resources and community character all remain protected, as well as bring the city’s zoning ordinance up to date with state statutes.

FACC June Organizational Meeting

It’s time for the June meeting of the Fort Adult Care Consortium, taking place on Tuesday, June 11th, at 10:00 AM at the Dwight Foster Public Library, 209 Merchant Street in Fort Atkinson, WI. Copies of the agenda for the meeting are attached to this message, and the minutes from our previous meetings are available for download on the FACC website listed below.

This month, we expect a more focused meeting. Our primary issue will be the updates to the City Zoning application form, and we hope to have an update from the City on those changes. Based on our successful test last month, the June meeting will also be available as a Zoom web meeting / conference call for those of you struggling with the conflict of wanting to be involved while meeting direct resident needs. This month, we will still have a limit on our online numbers (which we expect to lift shortly), so please contact me directly if you’d like to participate this month, so I can walk you through the technical requirements for this process.

As always, if there is information you would like distributed for discussion during our next meeting, forward them to me via email a week before our next meeting for inclusion. Copies of previous minutes and agendas are available on the FACC website, available in the Documents link above.

See you on June 11th!

May FACC Organizational Meeting

While the shivering flowers may not make it obvious, it’s time for the May meeting of the Fort Adult Care Consortium, taking place on Tuesday, May 14th, at 10:00 AM at the Dwight Foster Public Library, 209 Merchant Street in Fort Atkinson, WI. Copies of the agenda for the meeting are attached to this message, and the minutes from our previous meetings are available for download on the FACC website listed below.

This month, we are continuing to follow up on structural blocks preventing new applications, and our ongoing discussion of topics for provider training for 2019. Our meeting will also be available as a Zoom web meeting / conference call for those of you struggling with the conflict of wanting to be involved while meeting direct resident needs. This month, we will still have a limit on our online numbers (which we expect to lift shortly), so please contact us directly if you’d like to participate this month, so we can walk you through the technical requirements for this process.

FACC Meeting Reschedule Notice

Since today’s inclement weather delayed or prevented everyone (except our newest member!) from attending, this month’s FACC meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 12th. As usual, we’ll update handouts the week before (or check out the /documents folder anytime!), so forward anything you intended to bring up at the meeting and it will be included.

See you on Tuesday, March 12th at 10:00 AM!

February 2019 Meeting Notice

The next meeting of the Fort Adult Care Consortium will take place on Tuesday, February 12th, at 10:00 AM at the Dwight Foster Public Library, 209 Merchant Street in Fort Atkinson, WI.   This month, we are moving forward with the process changes needed as a result of the termination of the Adult Care moratorium as of January 1st, and the new requirements for Adult Care operations in Fort Atkinson that the new Ordinance and Zoning changes have put into place. We’ll look at some of the possible new forms and update details you’ll need to understand to comply with the new ordinance.

We’ll also look at some of the free provider training  that we’ve arranged for 2019. Our goal is that these training offerings will meet your organization’s needs in a cost effective (usually free) way while helping us all become better providers and more efficient users of City resources.

Copies of the agenda for the meeting and the minutes from our previous meetings are available for download in the Documents area.

NOTE: It is possible that members of and possibly a quorum of other governmental bodies of the municipality may be in attendance at the above stated meeting to gather information; however, no action will be taken by any governmental body at the above stated meeting other than the governmental body specifically referred to above in this notice.
